Ebook {Epub PDF} Showcase Presents: Adam Strange Vol. 1 by Gardner F. Fox

This volume of Showcase Presents includes material available on The Atom Archives Vols 1 2, plus an additional four issues (#s ). As per usual, writer Gardner Fox has a lot of sci-fiction elements in his Atom stories, although the Atom is more Earth-bound than, say, Hawkman or Green Lantern/5. This volume of Showcase Presents reprints three issues that were not included in the two Hawkman Archives, Hawkman # Same creative team (Fox and Anderson), featuring the return of the Matter Master, an adventure on another planet, and a pretty good tale /5(62). Written by DC mainstay Gardner Fox, the Strange stories begin their run illustrated by Mike Sekowsky and Bernard Sachs (inks) and then switch over to Carmine Infantino (pencils), with various inkers (the best of which is Murphy Anderson). Infantino went on to become the principle DC artist for both Adam Strange and the silver age Flash/5(18).

There are scuds of vintage articles by fans about comics from the heyday of fandom, but the reason I craved this volume was Sam Grainger. Grainger who did the wonderful cover image above, illustrated an adaptation of Gardner F. Fox's Warrior of Llarn as scripted by Roy Thomas. ↑ Irvine "s" in Dolan, p. "Adam Strange debuted in a three-issue trial starting with Showcase #17, which was written by Gardner Fox and featured art by Mike Sekowsky." ↑ Amash, Jim (). "Foreword". Hello, Sign in. Account Lists Returns Orders. Cart. Showcase Hawkman Vol. 1 features a huge run of Hawkman stories from his first appearances in the Silver Age. The stories are a bit repetitive and fall into a formula pretty quickly. The early issues feature stunning art by Joe Kubert, but about halfway through, we get the less aggressively interesting art of Murphy Anderson. The Showcase Presents book series by multiple authors includes books Showcase Presents: Bat Lash, Showcase Presents: Batman Vol. 4, Showcase Presents: House of Mystery Vol. 3, and several more. See the complete Showcase Presents series book list in order, box sets or omnibus editions, and companion titles.
